Only one short month after our 5th anniversary release, we release A2Billing 1.6 today, codenamed Hickory, with some extra features and some older features improved. We have added a new credit card payment processor from Iridium for the UK, our thanks to sponsoring the development go to Suretec Systems Ltd. In order to allow the code in, A2Billing had to pass Iridium’s security tests, which I am pleased to say that we passed.

Apart the usual round of bug fixes, we also include the following new features in A2Billing 1.6.

Easy addition of rates into the package offers for free minutes and calls.
IVR Based monitoring system so you can dial into A2Billing to hear the current status of the system
Compatibility updates for the recently released Asterisk 1.6.2
News modules and system information on the dashboard to let you know when updates are due.
Russian internationalisation, we thank Тарас Ремез for that.
More enhancements to the SOAP capabilities including Account Status Update coupled with documentation for implementing SOAP.
Major updates to the subscription system.
Some UI improvements, including search on system settings, and on the status log.

More information about turnkey products we have built based around A2Billing can be found at http://www.star2billing.com/Products

We recommend that you upgrade to the latest version, and if you have not yet upgraded from version 1.3.X we strongly urge that you do.

The tarball can be downloaded from http://www.asterisk2billing.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi, and the latest stable version is always available on the SVN.

If you need paid support, contact us at [email protected]

Until next time,

Yours

Areski, and the A2Billing team.

Good job guyz! Thanks for your effort and all....

Will give it a try now...

Two Questions:

1. Where is the how-to for upgrade?

2. Don't you intend to create sections for these late releases in the forum?

Thanks again,
Ali.

Hi

Upgrading is broadly similar to the install you did, and covered on the forum.

The elements of A2Billing are:-

Database - use the scripts supplied to update the DB
Web pages - replace your existing pages with the new ones, including common.
agi - replace a2billing.php in /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin with the new one.
cronjobs - replace the old cronjobs with the new ones.
a2billing.conf - make sure there are no changes

Make sure you back up everything so you can go back if it goes wrong.

Joe

Hi

Areski is moving with amazing speed, and to be honest, I've not caught up with this functionality yet.

Is 1.6.0 the latest version? why do I see mention of 1.6.2 or 1.6.0.2 on the forum?

Thanks

1.6.2 tagged as latest well apart from the trunk version. Most 1.6.0 bugs fixed in this version.

I have a production/live system that I would like to upgrade. I noticed that in the UPDATE files for the sql database, there are various table name changes that have taken place. I was wondering whether:

1. It's possible to do the upgrade on a live server without disruption
2. If there is a particular order to upgrade items in.

Thanks

It would actually be really neat if there is a separate upgrade engine which can be run on a different system and one can feed the backed up database to it for upgrade.

Just a useful thought.

Yeah, I was hoping to build a shell script for my own system for future upgrades. I wouldn't mind making it public with a few adjustments that will allow people to configure it for their own system.
