Dear all

A2Billing 1.7.1 has been released this evening. This is a minor upgrade, along with a an enhancement to the IVR for playing the cost per minute.

The main differences are:-

1. As Yahoo finance changed something at their end, currency updates failed on all versions of A2Billing - This version re-instates currency updates.

2 Update to the way that the rate per minute is played, you can now opt to play the value in cents rather than in Dollars or Euro, e.g. seven point five cents, rather than zero Euro and seven cents. This feature was kindly sponsored by Fiaz Ahmed of Rajco Communication GmbH in Germany. Our thanks go to him.

If you are using multiple currencies in your operation, we would advise that you upgrade to this version. We would also advise anyone running version 1.3.4 or earlier to upgrade. if you need commercial assistance to upgrade then Star2Billing would be happy to assist.

Yours

As long as I have been using A2Billing, there has been the ability to charge in alternative currencies. The exchange rate was taken from yahoo finance. They however changed something, and the last set of tests I did would suggest that no version of A2Billing, other than 1.7.1 allows the exchange rate to be automatically updated.

Hi

There is no easy solution to this, as there are two costs to consider, your carrier costs which may be paid for in a variety of different currencies, from a variety of other currencies, and have to be inserted into your database in the base currency, and the exchange rate for those rates should be the one on the day that you paid for the minutes.

For instance, you may get your money in Euro, and pay for carrier costs in USD, therefore there is an exchange rate applied when you convert your money to pay for the carrier charges, which may not be the same as today's exchange rate.

This the problem of enabling different currencies is logically difficult to do, and I would love to hear of a business process that could be employed to managed this.

For the moment, I believe you have three options.

1. Stop the currency update Daemon, and set your own conversion rate in the database.
2. My preferred solution - Set up a second platform in the desired currency.
3. Use the system they way it is designed.

I have a system that works on multi-currency without using dynamic currency updates. I wanted as most people do a solution fully localized for a particular country. So my customers in USA see their rates in USD, maintain their balance in USD and pay in USD. Similarly my customers in Canada see their rates in CAD, maintain their balance in CAD and pay in CAD. I've offer this in USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Europe and New Zealand.

So this is how I do that. I create a currency called BASE and make it my default currency. In currency rates table I set each currency to a 1:1 ratio to BASE. Then I have different rates tables for each country.

This will break profitability reports "money situation" I guess, apart for that it has been working fine.

I did modified the payment interfaces to accept paypla website payment pro (so credit card processing on the site itself) as well as integrated paypal EC to accept the payapl payments.

Anyone interested let me know.

I am interested to do this. I don't like the current paypal page where customers sees only a small link to pay via credit card and confuses them to setup a paypal account which they don't like to do. I want to have Paypal credit payment page and paypal payment as 2nd option. Anyway can help?
