There has been a feature long missing in A2Billing, and that is the ability of A2Billing to bill the A Leg, or ingress leg of a DID.

Thanks to Sponsorship from IPComms, -http://www.ipcomms.net/ - who some of you may remember has sponsored development of A2Billing in the past, we have been able to add this feature.

This allows you to set a price per minute for the DID as well as a connection charge, and add this to the ingress cost to the egress cost, so when someone calls one of your customer’s DID, the customer is charged per minute for the call.

For instance, if a customer has a freephone or tollfree number that is charged at 5c per minute, the customer who owns the DID will have his balance decremented at 5c per minute, assuming the call is delivered via VoIP where there is no charge. When the call is delivered to a landline, at say 2c per minute, the customer will have his balance decremented by 7c per minute.

We have also given the ability to allow revenue share for NGN’s (Non Geographic Numbers). For instance, if A2Billing Admin earns 10c per minute for a call to an NGN, he may wish to pass some of that revenue share on to his customer at 8c per minute. In this case, the customer’s balance will be increased by 8c per minute. However, if the call is delivered to a landline at 2c per minute, the cost of egress will be balanced against the ingress, resulting in a net increase of the customer’s balance by 2 cents.

We are excited to see how this new feature will be used to provide new services and charging options to A2Billing Admins.
Note that we have moved the development of A2Billing from Subversion to GIT, and you can follow development of A2Billing at https://github.com/star2billing/a2billing, and download the latest version from https://github.com/Star2Billing/a2billi ... v1-current

Yours

Areski, Joe, and the Star2Billing team.

Hi Joe, nice to see things on continuous move.

Very nice updates, btw.

GIT means I am not able to update via svn anymore?

what I used to get updates via svn and I think it was very convenient.

I appreciate your comments on how to proceed to get updates avoiding full reinstall.

Regards,
Renato.

Hi

What I do use smylinks from the installation folder - in my case, /usr/share/a2billing/1-current/stable, for all the web pages, cron jobs, a2billing.php, etc, etc, the only thing that is not symlinked is the /etc/a2billing.conf as that rarely if ever changes.

Move the the contents of .../stable to another location, and explode the contents of the tarball into .../stable, apply the SQL update scripts, and you are upgraded.

Joe

Hi Joe,

that seems pretty easy indeed,

But I will not be able to send contributions in form of svn diff anymore right?

I just started to make my contributions in the last month.

Maybe you want to open another topic to discuss how to contribute with this new method.

Hi,

I want to reduce the worries that some of you may have about our move from SVN to Git.

Git had several advantages, it's decentralized and have a much stronger branching capability.
GitHub is also making our live much more easy and can allow any other developer to quickly fork the project
and pull back to us new features/fixes when ready.

The basic commands of Git are really close of svn, please refer to this document to start :
http://git.or.cz/course/svn.html

The hosting of the sources are on GitHub, https://github.com/Star2Billing/a2billing
you can clone the sources locally make your changes, use also git diff to produce patches.
Here a description of how to create a patch with Github :
https://github.com/rakudo/rakudo/wiki/s ... te-a-patch

We can also use Github to open tickets and send patches :
https://github.com/Star2Billing/a2billing/issues

You can still use Trac for now, but we won't be using our svn server anymore.

Yours,
/Areski

Hello,

I was able to install 1.8.3 and it seem to be working very well. My question is: What functions require PHP 5.3. I'm using asterisk 1.4.35 with PIAF 1.7.5.5 and upgraded FreePBX 2.8.0.4 and still using PHP 5.1.6.

What would be the easiest way to upgrade PHP to 5.3.

Thanks,

RobinA

5.2 will suffice, plenty of instructions here to upgrade.

Thanks Joe.

I installed PHP 5.2.10 from the instructions I found here when I installed 1.4x
It worked flawlessly.
Will continue testing.

Robin.
