I am starting to use customers Phone numbers as their card alias, this will help them remember.

Is it a good idea or bad idea? Its a pilot project and depending on how well it goes, I can write a script to replace the usernames with first callerIds in the system.

I don't think it's a bad idea. To make a SIP/IAX buddy call, users must share their card aliases with one another anyway.

I'm doing exactly that since 1 year and the Users (or better the Hotline) are appreciating that. This in combination with the automatic password recovery via email drops calls about lost usernames/passwords nearly down to zero.
