Hi everyone,

I am new to A2Billing. Like to check, is it possible for A2Billing to integrate with HylaFax? Is there any implementation on this and how-to get started?

Any help? Thanks.

Hi

I've done some work on this in the past.

The issue is that you have to run IAXModem to talk to Asterisk, and to add a new IAXModem (channel) on Hylafax means a restart of various services, it's non-trivial and it's not ideal for a production environment.

However, with better support of T38 in asterisk, coupled with http://sourceforge.net/projects/t38modem/ it may now be doable in a more elegant manner.

So if I were approaching this again, the components I'd be looking at would be:-

    Asterisk 11
    T38Modem
    Hylafax
    Avantfax
    A2Billing

Hi jroper,

Actually I am using HylaFax Enterprise (comes with T.38).

http://www.ifax.com/products/hylafax.html

Right now I am using SIP between HylaFax Enterprise and AudioCodes M1000.

HylaFax Enterprise comes with AvantFax already.

Will this work easier? Any way to start setting up (e.g. guide, tutorials) between A2Billing and HylaFax enterprise?

Any help? Thanks.

Hi

I've never used that product, so I cannot comment, but there are a number of ways that you can get A2Billing to identify which customer is making the call from an endpoint.

1. Caller ID.
2. Prefix the a2billing account number in front of the number to call and extract it in dialplan.
3. Insert the accountcode into the SIP header and extract it in dialplan.

Pick whatever method best fits with your set-up and move forward from there.

Is Asterisk a must here? I believe HylaFax Enterprise doesn't use Asterisk. Just purely a fax solution via T.38.

Any help? Thanks.

Yes, Asterisk is a must.

The call flow is Hylafax -> Asterisk/A2Billing -> Carrier.

Did you mean that when HylaFax send fax, it has to go through Asterisk in order to work?

As far I understand, HylaFax Enterprise has their own T.38 modems and the modems will do the dialing (probably without Asterisk). If that is the case, HylaFax Enterprise will not work?

Can you confirm? Thanks.

Hi

A2Billing needs Asterisk in order to work. It's not optional

A2Billing provides a number of other benefits over and above billing, such as LCR and failover, and gives you a place to configure your fax number DID to point at your Fax modems.
