Hi,

I have searched high & low in the documentation, but just can't seem to find how to do the following:
Many of my providers charge 1 rate (peak) between 7:00 and 19:00 and another (offpeak) rate between 19:00 and 7:00 on Mon-Fri. Weekends are offpeak.

Is there a way to configure 2 rates to deal with this or do I need to add 2 rates per day (Mon-Fri) and another for for Sat-Sun. Alternatively can I use the package feature to deal with offpeak?

Thanks.

I see from various posts there is no elegant way :(
Joe, if you are interested, I'd be willing to look into writing the mods for release 1.4.1.
I'm sure it would increase performance by reducing each ratecard to about 10% of what is currently required to achieve the same objective.

Hi

I'm no developer, however, I'm sure Areski would be pleased for the assistance.

Maybe some discussion here as to the best way doing off peak and peak rates.

Other billing systems I have looked at, (albeit postpaid from existing CDR) have done this on the basis of dividing up the week into one hour blocks or grid, 24 across by 7 down, and using a graphical interface to select at what times that rate table should be active.

That was with a program installed on a windows PC, based on VB I think, how the same would be achieved in PHP, I have no idea, or indeed whether this is the most elegant solution.

I would suggest we stick to what most users are familiar with. I'm assuming the majority of A2B users are also FreePBX users. My thoughts would be to add an additional 2 fields for each Rate. Currently we have Start Time and End Time, but this does not accomodate peak & off-peak.
I propose we add:
Week Day Start
Week Day finish
and change:
Start Time & End Time to only hold an hour & minute value (not the day of the week)

This ties in nicely with the format for configuring time conditions in FreePBX, thus reducing the learning curve for the broader user base (assuming my assumption above is correct).

OK, for those not familiar with FreePBX, and some would regard as burning offence for combining FreePBX and A2Billing on the same box, here is a picture of a time group.

The time group is then added to a time condition. In this case, more than one time group can be added to a time condition.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but a Time Group would be a nice feature to see, I also have suppliers who have on & off peak billing plans and it becomes a difficult to maintain and upload 10 sets of 350,000 rates.

Hello,

For what its worth, I think the attached bash script could help someone if they don't want to go the FreePBX route. I've been using this for a few years now and it works.
I have 2 rate cards. One for day time and one for nights and weekends.
You would have to create cron jobs to run the script.
It would even send you an email if there is a problem is encountered.
You would have to personalize it to your liking.

NOTE: change the extension from .txt to .sh
