Hi all
Sorry if it's not right place for my post but too many versions and no one right, so you can moved this post to right place you think. Thnx.
My suggestion to add Rand() function for make load balancing for outgoing calls between few providers (sometimes very needed option). Hope somebody will like this too. Thanks for what you doing guys!

I think asterisk can do this job almost by self (the func RAND(...) will help), but only if you add as parameter new key to push name of trunk (or provider) to agi. I guess its will be easer way to release this feature (less work on php for you guys:). So can you add this to billing, please?

I too really like this feature , not only for load balancing I think it will improve the quality of service. As when a user make a call if that call fail from a particular trunk , if his second attempt succeed it will be better for the service quality.

This is already supported. I don't understand why anyone would want to load balance trunks though.

Shane got my idea totally wrong, so his comments is useless here.

I'm sure this will be very useful feature. It's for spread all outgoing calls between existing trunks (or setup, for example, like 25%/25%/50% on 3 trunks, where is 2 trunks will get only 25% each of traffic and one 50%). i'm sure, for example, people with cheap GSM cards (datacard) will be very happy ;) I'm personally not using gsm cards but will be happy to spread all outgoing calls evenly between all my trunks (and money will be charged on each trunk evenly too). Thanks guys again for what you doing :)
ps: func RAND() in asterisk do this job very precisely!

Hi

You could achieve this with some custom dialplan. Create a context that dials the GSM modems an a round robin fashion, or randomly, as the case may be, and then set the A2Billing trunk to dial the the local context.

Can you please explain how it would work?

I also vote for this feature! Actually, I would happily donate a few bucks to help the development of this feature.

This will certainly be beneficial for couple of reasons:

1. Some termination providers give us multiple IP addresses to send calls to and in fact we send the calls in a round robin fashion between two or more IP addresses. So I could create two trunks for the same provider: Sipprovider-IP1 and Sipprovider-IP2 and send calls using these two trunks in a round robin fashion.

2. I can have a setup where I send calls out to two Asterisk system on a round robin basis to load balance.

Please let us know if something like this is possible within A2Billing.

Thanks,

Kim

It has been some time that we have been discussing this feature . I'm sure we can request to add this feature from Areski , provided we share the cost of it. I'm willing to put $200 or even higher to get this feature. Please PM or post how much you like to contribute & I will talk to Areski to get it done.
