I have a question about dial prefixes and country codes. To dial a US phone number, you need to prefix the 10 digit number with a 1. But what about for people who only want to dial the number without using the 1? Is there a simple way of doing that? Sorry if this is such an elementary question.
Thanks;
Frank

Hi

The USA is a tricky one, due to its non standard approach to telephony compared to the rest of the world.

There are a few options depending on whether it is VoIP or calling card.

With VoIP, you would normalize the digits to 11 digits in the dialplan

With calling card, you may have national rates for the USA, and strip the leading 1.

you didn't specify if its for Calling card/pinless or Retail sip customers, if its retail sip customers just setup your dialplan to add a 1 if it receives 10 digits, if its calling card/pinless you will need need a large NPANxx database like from area-codes.com, and import the rates that way, you'll end up with basically all area codes for the US, get ready to import over 400000 lines to your rates.

good luck.
