This happens due to change in res_agi behaviour. Thus, EXEC DIAL will hangup straight away even SIGHUP is ignored as EXEC DIAL works as an underlying app since 1.2.20 (and probably 1.4.8).

Dial with 'g' seems to solve half of the problem but there are some side effects.

It's currently reported here http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=10315

Solution is to revert the change in:
http://svn.digium.com/view/asterisk/bra ... 5&r2=71656

Can you please be more specific on that? What are the side effects?

I have switched my test server to use AGI + 'g' and seems to work. Is there something else that breaks that way?

Yes, it is a dumb question. Reread all topic. This bug affects ONLY 1.2.19+

Yes!
In 1.4.8 a *warning* was introduced, which said we shouldn't use DeadAGI. Apart from that, the functionality wasn't changes, so your scripts should still run fine. I'm not sure what changed in 1.4.9, but it must not break a2billing. Since 1.4.9, asterisk devs are aware of our functionality.

Looking for suggestion on fix:

Got 1.2.22 from trixbox.

Should I upgrade it to 1.4 (and will that resolve this issue)

or

Should I modify the res_agi ? ( I see the res_agi.so ) how do I make and compile the change?

If I need to downgrade version of asterisk ... can someone tell me how to do this?

I'm liking the new features and want to start rolling with it.

Thanks

LOL - I know you love your Gentoo man. I appreciate the offer.

gotta stick with what you know, and for me its trix and freepbx (for now).

I upgraded asterisk to 1.4.6 and seems like it now does the billing properly. (side note ... had to reinstall my codecs again after upgrade).
