Hello,

I am noticing that customers are being billed even when phone is ringing and not answered yet. I have let 2 rings go through without picking up and the customer was charged the billing rate. Is there somewhere I should make some changes in order to change that?

Thanks

Tommaso

Use a carrier that isn't trying to defraud you, or fix your Asterisk answer supervision issues.

That would depend on your carrier or if you are using zaptel. It basically means that the carrier is answering the call before delivering it, which ideally, they should not do.

There are a couple of techniques that you can apply, such as setting the min_duration_2bill to a higher value, ten at least your callers will not be charged if they do not connect, although they will be charged for the the whole call.

I am using a pstn gateway and I did set min duration to 60 sec. Could it be the gateway?

Thanks

Yes, it's almost certainly something to do with the signalling between the gateway and Asterisk. I'd be surprised if the gateway offers no progress or answer/disconnect supervision. Even (properly configured) GSM gateways manage that.
