I have a2billing (2.06) configured to play the balance after the user enters the destination number and I noticed that it takes a long time before the voice prompt starts playing "the balance on your account is...."

I tested from a callerID verified account and entered the destination number followed by the # key. I took SIX seconds before a2billing started playing the prompt and I don't understand why it's taking this long. After pressing the # (end) key it should take a fraction of a second to query the database and play the balance. Our legacy system also has a huge rate table and it takes a split second for the same operation. Any suggestions on how to speed this up? Thanks.

Don't suppose you have a2billing debugging level in the AGI-CONF turned up (to 4)? That can slow things down like that.

Thanks for the reply.
Verbosity level = 1
Logging_level = 1

The problem is not performance as such. The delay is only after the user enters the destination number. We play "the balance on your account is $$$ and the cost of the call is $$$

I guess during the 6 seconds delay a2b does the rate lookup and calculates time allowed for the call but 6 seconds is a lot for this type of lookup in an SQL table.

Hi

Set the verbosity to 0, and then test again.

It's not just SQL lookups, it's writing to disk several times as well, e.g. the AGI log is writing to file, as is the Asterisk system writing to its log file(s) as well as rendering to the console.

Are you pressing # at the end of dialling the telephone number?
