I hired a php programmer to examine the code in the agi to see if anything can be done to reduce the amount of memory it uses without removing any features. The first thing he pointed out was the GD library. He believes if this is was replaced by a different method it would reduce memory consumption. I am not sure this can be done. He never worked with a2billing or asterisk before so I thought I would ask about it here first before I get too deep into this project.

He stated GD library is one thing that does use a lot of memory and that 12MB was doing good when using the GD library. It sounded as if he was impressed it wasn’t using more than 12MB.

The question I have is there anything in the GD library that is absolutely required for handling of calls or communicating with asterisk that cannot be replaced by another method?
