Is it neccessary to install A2billing with FreePBX together?

Hi!~
I want to establish a calling card server and pretty new to VoIP.
I just wanto provide calling card service(Customer call a did number, will be connect to my service,will be asked to input PIN and destination number), But I also want to keep my server as simple as i can. So do i have to install freepbx to manage the routing ..did..etc ?
If just install asterisk + a2billing will do it. And then is it easy to maintaince and setup?(Cuz i know i can setup trunk,did etc easily in FreePBX)

No, FreePBX is certainly not necessary, but for those new to the asterisk dial-plan it can help speed the learning process.
