I just had a very painful week debugging - Discovering that Asterisk 1.4 versions above 1.4.30 break A2Billing 1.3 and probably other versions.

Symptom: no inband ringback when dialing out.

How to reproduce with latest Asterisk 1.4 trunk r263291:

A2Billing.conf
answer_call = NO

DIAL option L.

sip.conf
progressinband = no ; to generate ringback/busy etc internally when downstream signals ringing

asterisk.conf
[options]
internal_timing = yes ;requires dahdi module to provide timer for outgoing audio if there is no incoming audio
dahdichanname = yes

The issue is apparently not timer related as it happens when audio is coming into Asterisk on the incoming leg and also when there is no audio incoming.

Asterisk 1.4.30 seems to be last version which is ok.
However there seems to be also issues with DIAL g option.

In any case I suggest that A2Billing developers check the issue and if necessary forward to the Asterisk developers so that "no ringback" does not become a permanent A2Billing "feature".
