 Post subject: Paypal transaction not posting to user account automatically

Does anyone know how to solve a paypal issue:

When a user makes a purchase it shows up in the admin section but immedietly but does not post to the user account. Are there any steps that I need to take to make it post to the user account automatically?

Prior to posting I have looked on the message board and was unable to find a solution.
