Hi there,

I have a quick question that I hope one of you will be able to answer.

I have installed a2billing and disabled the voice and pin requests so that users can simply make direct calls from their company. However when a user tries to transfer a call to an external number or forward a call to an external number, the system asks them for a PIN. How do I disable this so that users can easily make these transfers to external numbers?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you have.

BVD

Thanks

Hi

Are you authenticating to A2Billing on the basis of account code.

Hi Jo,

Yes, account code is being passed through from Asterisk to do the authentication. I have set NO to all of the references to asking for pins in the agi1-conf file, but might be missing something as basically, when a divert is set up from an IP phone or when a user tries to ransfer a call, it asks for a PIN number.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Hi

The issue here is that the accountcode is not passed through when the phone is forwarded, and so A2Billing, not knowing who to bill for the call prompts for an account number, although I had imagined that a call transfer to an outside line would be OK.

To fix the call forwarding issue, Star2Billing paid FreePBX a substantial amount of money for a custom module to fix this issue.

If you want to contact us a [email protected], then we can give you a quote for this module, which will fix your call forwarding issues.

Hi Jo,

It's a shame that this is chargeable. We are quite a small operation and are trying to keep costs to a minimum.

We would consider paying however if the charge is affordable to us. Could you perhaps provide me with an overview of what the mosule exactly does first of all? I will then be in a better position to decide on whether to go ahead with purchasing the service.

Does this fix the Diverting and the forwarding issues? Below basically is an exact breackdown of the behaviour that we are currently seeing in our environment.

** Transferring **

When a dialling part calls one of our internal extensions and in turn is transferred to an external number they are presented with a request to enter their pin number!

e.g. User calls from his mobile to the main line I answer it and try to transfer by pressing ## followed by my mobile number, The user is then asked to enter his pin number

What is happening is that instead of being transferred through our account it is prompting for a pin number for the users account account

** Diverting **

When a user attempts to divert calls to a mobile number (for purposes when landline is un-manned) the extension does not ring but the calling party either hears ringing until the call goes dead or if voicemail is presented with the option to leave a message!

Hi

It will sort out the diverts, for any kind of divert (ARI, *73 etc)

It maintains the accountcode for authentication.

At the price we paid for it, we cannot afford to give it away, but no reasonable offer refused.

I've not tested transfers.

Hi BVD,

We were experiencing the same issues as yourself so I contacted Star2Billing and purchased the module (for a very reasonable sum). We installed it (which took less than 10 minutes) and it fixed transfer and divert problems immediately.

Many thanks to Joe and the Team :-)

Hi Joe/amann,

Sounds like thats the fix. I may have to go that route myself.

Thanks for your advice :-)
