When i have "say_balance_after_auth" set to "yes" i cannot dial until the announcement is completed. It seems that the "say_balance_after_auth" is been played by PlayBack, instead of Background which would play a file while awaiting for an extensions.

Is there a way to change this to Background? or any other suggestions?

The situation hasn't changed; as described in threads here relevant to A2B v1.3.x, we still need changes in Asterisk as SayDigits() is un-interruptable.
That said, if someone were to place an enticing enough bounty on this feature, there's nothing to stop an enterprising coder re-implementing SayDigits() in PHP with the added ability to return digits received.
