Hi

I am a newbie in A2billing and I read some threads saying using A2Billing in trixbox are open to exploit?

How safe is this kind of setup? What about using AsteriskNOW?

I am not a Linux (command shell) person and it will probably take me days/weeks to try to configure something in the PBX so I will be heavily rely on GUI interface.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

trixbox is not designed to be directly accessible from internet.
asterisknow can not say about it much but its freepbx gui bit easy to customize and change and its lots of security problems if you are planning to use it.
You better give a shout http://www.star2billing.com/

Don’t waist your time and money anywhere els.

Hi

We do not like to obtrusively advertise Star2Billing on these forums, the commercial arm of A2Billing created to give commercial support and consultancy to support the A2Billing project, but it is always much appreciated when someone does recommend us, and feels really good when one of our customers whom we have trained gives help to other users on the forums.

Personally, I would strongly advise against using Trixbox and AsteriskNow as a basis for A2Billing, and then putting the system on the public internet.

There is nothing at all wrong with these distributions, however, they have been designed to be put inside a firewall and provide PBX services, not to be exposed directly to the internet. This is their design spec, and no criticism is intended, because as PBX systems behind a firewall, they are very competent.

On the Star2Billing commercial installs we include a firewall and intrusion detection software as a minimum, as the results of getting hacked could prove expensive. We often, depending on the experience of the customer with Asterisk, include FreePBX as well, but we do some extra work to have Apache handle the security, which is far more tested than FreePBX native security.
