Hello,
What would be the best way to implement a caller ID blocking (*67) solution?
Part of what a2billing is being used for here is for regular voip service that I want to provide to others, and I want to give them all the features as a regular phone company does. The one thing I lack is caller ID blocking.
My voip provider does not pass calls with a *67 prefix, if that gives me a better answer to the question

Thanks in advance
Joseph

Hmmmm, this one got me thinking.....

You could set a rate card with all your rates preceeded with say *67 to point to a different trunk setting, one which set the caller id to Private or Blocked, etc.

Interesting question all the same...

I wonder what other solutions could be dreamed up?

I discovered a solution
Since all the extensions are configured through freepbx, I added an AGI and another trunk that points to that AGI
In outbound routes I put *67|1NXXNXXXXXX
In the agi settings there's a place to override the caller ID. There are two fields that need to be modified. Done!

Excellent solution!
I was assuming you were using incomming DID's not SIP and softphones.

I would still be interested in any other incomming DID solutions to this issue...

For incoming DIDs, if you are using FreePBX to route your calls, I have a script to replace the privacy manager. Instead of it screening the call and asking to enter a phone number, it will say that "the number you dialed doesnt wish to speak with private callers. Please hang up and try again"
If you are using a2billing for DID routing, I don't really know. Since I am trying to be a full-fledged VoIP provider, I have the best luck combining a2billing and FreePBX. For customers that use their own PBX, that's when I set them up with credentials and an account directly through a2billing, and everything including the privacy manager, voicemail, features, etc. must be (and should be) managed by their PBX.
