Hello,
Is it possible to play the user's balance and time to call prior to connecting the call? The agi-conf tells it to do so, and it works with the regular calling card dialing. Unfortunately it will not make the announcement beforehand. The only thing I see works in the agi-conf is when I play with "answer call". When I set it to yes, the call answers and rings the destination. When it's set to no, it will not answer the call until asterisk receives a code that the call was answered.

In the a2billing.conf you will find these settings:

; Play the balance to the user after the authentication (values : yes - no)
say_balance_after_auth = yes

; Play the balance to the user after the call (values : yes - no)
say_balance_after_call = yes

; Play the initial cost of the route (values : yes - no)
say_rateinitial = yes

; Play the amount of time that the user can call (values : yes - no)
say_timetocall = yes

Set them to what you want.

That's exactly what I did. Works great when calling from a calling card and entering the number manually. But when I route a DID and send it directly to a destination (external number), a2billing answers the call and connects it. That's it. Even after the party hangs up, a2billing hangs up the call, even though "play balance after hangup" is set to yes.
The agi that this is programmed under is the same exact agi for calling card users, so I know that it definitely works, however it is simply not working when the destination is set for the DID.

If you are sending in a DID to be forwarded directly onto a destination as in ...a2billing.php,1,DID) not playing any IVR is expected behaviour.

I'm not sure that I understand the reasoning for this call flow.

Total stranger rings up a DID, and is told the balance of the person he is trying to ring, and then the call is delivered to the owner of the DID.

Is that what you want to do?

Yes, in a way. The only difference in the scenario is that I will be routing the call based on Caller ID for security. So if someone calls their assigned DID from a "stranger" phone number, it would just ask for their PIN. If calling directly from their cell phone or another authorized number, that's when it will route the call accordingly.

In addition to a feature that a2billing offers, pinless dialing, I also want to have a feature that users can supply me with one or two phone numbers of overseas destinations that they call to often. It appears that DID Destination would be the perfect feature for this. The customer will need to give me the telephone numbers that he/she will be calling from. I will provide the customer with a DID to use. From there I create a Caller ID route with FreePBX and route it to the appropriate destination. However, when they call the DID, before their call is connected, I would like the balance and amount of talk time to be played.

Why not just use speed dial.
