No absolutely not, the card number is the only thing that stands between you and fraud.

2.) can i specify the card number of the card serial when generating ?

No, see above.

3.) is there any other fiend i can use as the serial number

Don't understand the question, fiend?

Joe

I believe he meant *field*, not fiend.

Why would the serial numbers need to be sequential? There are other fields you can use to store batch numbers or other useful information.

So you can group sets of serial numbers together. Say you sold prepaid cards to store X. with numbers 1000-1999. They call and say the cards have been stolen. You could easily type in cards 1000-1999 and either delete them, or remove any balance they have.

What fields are you referring to ?

I responded to your question there. Version 1.9.4 has serial numbers as a field during card creation.

He responded to your question about serial numbers and used the word "card number". Your question may have been misunderstood. The serial number field seems like a good place to store serial numbers

Also, the original post is over a year old. If serial numbers is new to 1.9.4, and 1.9.4 was not out at the time, what Joe said was probably true at the time of the post.

A2Billing 1.9.4 Stable (released the 31 May 2011).

I don't know how long the serial numbers have been around.

Yeah, about 2 months later I see. I was assuming there had not been that big of a change, and the documentation of said nothing.

Hi

To clarify, I was answering a question about card numbers, which I took to mean the number you put in to authenticate to A2Billing. Clearly this should be random.

However, each new account is given a sequential ID number in the underlying database, additionally you also have card group, card series and tag to easily search on a particular group of cards.

Yours

Joe
