there is a problem with the "say_rateinitial" parameter when the LCR route fails and a2billing processes the call with the next best rate. E.g. Customer calls Pakistan. We lookup the route and play "the cost of your call is 2.9 cents / minute". A2billing processes the call. The first route (2.9 cents) fails and we go to the next route (11 cents). The customer believes he is charged 2.9 cents when in fact we are charging 11 cents / minute.

In my opinion if we use the "say_rateinitial" parameter and the first route fails, a2billing should play AGAIN the rate announcement of the next more expensive rate and if that route fails play again the rate announcement for the next rate and so on. That way the customer ALWAYS knows what rate he will be charged for the call and they can't accuse us of cheating him by announcing a lower rate and then charging a higher one for the actual call.

Hi

When a call to a number down one trunk fails, the rate is not recalculated, nor is the customer charged more.

If the rate is determined as 2.5c and that trunk fails, and you have a failover trunk with a rate of 11c. The customer will still be charged 2.5c and no further announcement will be made.

In our case the higher rate is charged when the first route fails. Otherwise I would not have posted this message. Is there a "correct way" to designate the overflow vs a "wrong" way? We have the failover trunk defined in the trunk setup.
