after reading here in forum, i have followed the advice of setting the codec in [general] section in sip.conf, but still the codec of the a-leg is a-law, even a-law doesnt even show up in sip.conf.

I run A2billing 1.8.1 and Asterisk 1.4.21.2~dfsg-3+lenny2.
Any help welcome.

Hi

Set the codec in the trunk you use for the A Leg.

hello, thx for your help.
Indeed i was now able to change the codec to u-law, but actually i wanted to use G729, that is set as first priority. But this entry just got ignored.
Whenever i only allow G729 in codecs of outgoing trunk, i am getting

[Sep 9 13:25:22] WARNING[25013]: chan_sip.c:3024 sip_call: No audio format found to offer. Cancelling call to xxxxxxxx
[Sep 9 13:25:22] NOTICE[25013]: channel.c:2933 __ast_request_and_dial_uniqueid: Unable to call channel SIP/xxxxx/xxxxxxx

But G729 is working with callingcard, then the DID-provider is offering G729 and asterisk takes it as first priority.
Can i originate a call in G729 without a license ?

I would advise that you purchase g729 certificates to make things easier.

If your carrier supports g729, then it should be possible to send the call as g729.

will i need 1 license for every concurrent callback originated in g729 ?
Its not quite clear since i dont transcode anything, because of the audiofiles, that get played after connect are already g729 encoded.

Is it possible that we add "Codecs: G729" header to the originate manager action?
