Hi,
I'm a newbie in this area trying to understand how calling card scenario works with Trixbox (1.2.3) on Vmware with A2Billing. Say I've a trunk setup with some provider who gives me local, Long distance and International calls for some n cents/min, I understand that i can personally use it as one single line for one person.
Now The questions I've got are:

1.But under the same conditions can i use this one trunk to carry out multiple connections at the same time?
2. Say, If one person is already on an international call, Wouldn't another person trying to call out Internationally, get a busy tone?
3. How would A2billing help in this regard?
4. How would the billing be for such multiple connections per minute?
5. Is there any provider who would allow simultaneous calls through a single line?

Sorry if i am trying to be dumb. I tried to read a lot of documentation and forum queries but I am still unclear of this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

It depends on your provider, some providers only allow one call per customer.

The same, depends on the provider.

When you create a customer you can select the account access to simultaneous or individual. A2billing can bill the minutes used by any of your customers and calls.

most of the providers can allow multiple calls with one account.

Hi Razametal,
Thanks for your responses. So it all depends on the provider. OK..
I read about channels from the VoIP providers all the time. Are these called simultaneous connections? I know i is definitely not Sip channel or IAX2 channel etc. Right?

Yes, channels are equal to number of simultaneous calls.

HI sonu551
Depending on the phone company you talk to, you might get a deferent definition as to what channel or path means. Some companies will say they offer trunks (2-way-voip-lines) with one Channel/Path that gives you the ability to receive one incoming call and do a call transfer or three-way call using this same trunk however other companies will say this takes 2 paths. So just double check when you asking a sales person what their definition of Channel/Paths are. When buying wholesale trunks many providers give you 1 or 2 paths but with the ability to share paths depending on how you set your A2billing up. This means if you buy 100 trunks. You will get the ability to send 100 to 200 calls simultaneously out one trunk so long as none of your other trunks (2-way-voip-lines) are being used for either incoming or out going calls.

I have perfected a system using a2billing which allows me to use trunks (2-way-voip-lines) to terminate calls for customers at no long distance whatsoever on my part. I have sent out over 300,000 minutes on one trunk which only cost me $12 per month.. I been doing this for over a year now. I have recently started working on updating to the new asterisk2billing. If you want more details or to help found this projects let me know. We can work something out so you get a working copying if this is what you are trying to do. I would be happy to sell high quality 2-way-voip-lines in the near future.

My last programmer is no longer in the telephony business so I am looking for a new programmer to copy and past much of the customization from the old a2billing to the new asterisk2billing server and also add new features. If you share in the expense I will be happy to let you have the code and even have one of my techs to install set it up on your server for $50 - $75.

Any asterisk2billing developers or programmers on this site with possible interest in do some programming, please contact me with your rates.. I am looking for someone at this moment who can modified the new asterisk2billing the same as my old a2billing plus with some new features. I am also willing to even pay an hourly rate just for consultation concerning asterisk2billing . 800-603-9335 [email protected].

best regards
Sam
