I know is easy to forward a DID to an extension registered to a2b, but how can I forward a DID to an IP and pass caller ID?

As a standard SIP URI e.g. sip/[email protected]; the callerID will be passed as a part of the SIP message.

Joe, in this example 123456789 is the DID number? I tried to forward it to another trixbox box and I always get " The number you have dialed is not in service" even though I have a trunk at the remote box to accept call from the main box and a DID incomming route.

Set allow anonymous sip calls = yes in general settings in FreePBX, and make sure you have an inbound route that matches. In this case, the call is arriving at Trixbox as an unauthenticated (anonymous) call.

Thanks, It work that way, but don't this create a potential risk for fraud?

Can you explain further how you think changing this setting exposes you to fraud?

It is just a concern, I just noticed the Warning message saying " Setting this to yes will potentially allowed ANYBODY to call into your Asterisk server using the SIP protocol. Also I am wondering in what way others providers forward a DID that work without accepting anonymous sip calls, but creating a trunk with the provider ip address.

Hi

Well generally, we do allow anyone to call us.

We publish our telephone number in a directory, and anyone else in the world, if they know your number can call you, so the risks are similar to those you have on your cellphone.

The difference is, that in order to call you using the SIP Protocol, they only need your IP address, and your system does not care what DID they calling. However, that can easily be fixed.

Set up an inbound route for each of your DID, and then set up a catch all, that matches any DID, and send that to hangup.

So in this way, people who know your telephone number can call you, and if they don't they can't - just like a real telephone!

If you want to send a call to an authenticated trunk, then use the format Tech/A2B-AccNo/DID-No
