 Post subject: What is DID billing?

I am wondering if I need to consider this as an option for my business.
However, please dont laugh %-) but what IS DID or DIDX mean? What is for?
Sorry I have no clue about the abbreviation. :?

Also if you can offer help with this please reply your suggestion and knowlege as well:

I have a current VOIP / business phone system with a paid VOIP provider.
I have a PBX router/box that is connected to my wifi router in which my VOIP provider sent me.
I have a full business system VOIP all setup and running.
It logs all calls coming in and going, times, etc, etc. I got that part covered.

I have a laptop computer that is Ubuntu in which I have downloaded and installed Asterisk on.

Basically I am trying to setup my own pay per call system just for me.

i.e: Adult Talk, Tarot Reading....yep its what I do now. Web Design and Graphic design just isnt getting the bills paid. :cry:

I am a one woman operation here..

My main goal is to be able to bill the callers that call my toll free VOIP number.
(I do have a merchant provider as well)

I would like to present the caller with an option to enter their credit card details.

Its not necessary to immediately bill them before they connect to me. However, I do prefer this.
That way I dont have to manually enter their details in later.
However, this is okay too. As it seems like it would be easier
for me with a quicker setup at this time.

Am I able to do this with Asterisk2Billing?
How can I use that with the current VOIP system that I already currently have?

A2Billing will do exactly this for you., the commercial arm of A2Billing have done a number of similar what we call "Call Taker" platforms. Here is a link to one of our first:-


We have continued to do work for that particular customer, and most recently implemented a click to call feature, whereby the customer logs into the web site, clicks on the person they want to talk to, and it calls them back, then passes the call through to the call taker, and bills as per your rates.


PS a DID is a Direct Inwards Dial number, a telephone number terminated on your platform. DIDX is a company that supplies these numbers.
